We are excited to announce our latest Veritas & Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards

We are proud to introduce the vintage inspired new packaging for John B. Allot of thought went into this new design to bring back elements of origin, tradition and a bit of nostalgia.

The Robertson Wine Valley’s prowess for delivering exceptional Sauvignon Blanc wines was underscored on Friday when Rietvallei Wine Estate achieved a Grand d’Or medal at this year’s Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards.

Robertson can make great red wine. Rietvallei Estate, one of the Robertson Valley's pioneering wine estates, has shown that blue blooded Bordeaux grape cultivars have found a home in this region by clinching the National Trophy for Cabernet Franc at this year's Novare SA Terroir Wine Awards.

John B has received a facelift. This popular lifestyle range of accessible wines made on the well-known Rietvallei Wine Estate in Robertson has been relaunched with revitalised packaging leaning to the stylishly elegant.

This yummy warm pudding is perfect for this time of the year and partners great with our Muscadel (or you can serve it with a Rose or sparkling wine)...

THE rain stopped just in time for Wacky Wine Week-end, the Robertson Wine Valley's annual showcase-festival. Once again, thousands of visitors descended on our wine region for wine-tasting, local food, wine lectures, general hanging-about and all round revelry.

To the winemaker – and enthusiast – it is an unforgiving grape. Cabernet Franc, the famous fruit from Bordeaux, does not follow the mainstream.

“Cold,” said Dolf Hershowitz as he threw one more log of camel-thorn wood into the fireplace, “there are only two things colder than a Cape winter.”

Muscadel is the perfect drink to enjoy during this time of the year, but it is also a wonderful cooking partner for many dishes. Herewith some ideas on how to use Muscadel (other than a relaxing drink to defrost the insides smile emoticon ):

EVENTUALLY the rains came. By late May and early June wine farmers - like the whole Western Cape agriculture sector - were becoming worried about the impending drought. Except for a few teaspoons-full, no real rain had fallen since August last year.

Coinciding with its 150th anniversary this year, the Rietvallei Wine Estate in Robertson has released two single vineyard wines under a new label.

The Rietvallei family is especially fond of seafood – great with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc! This dish is simple to prepare and extremely tasty.

This year all the wineries in the Cape are telling a similar story. That this year was hot and dry, with grapes being picked about 10 days earlier than the average.

Un-wined is the name for a popular and interactive series of wine courses held at the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town.
